Cattle Watch: Texas Grand Jury Indicts Man For Cattle Theft

Amarillo.com reports an Athens man accused of stealing over 400 head of cattle has been indicted by a Hardeman County grand jury Wednesday.
Carl Wade Curry is indicted on a first-degree felony charge related to the theft of 420 head of cattle. Following an anonymous tip, Curry was arrested by the Texas and Southwest Cattle Raisers Association in April. He faces six charges of cattle theft.
Curry used a fake identity and checking account from a fictitious bank to purchase 420 cattle in Mississippi, then shipped the cattle to Kansas before he was caught. Curry’s bond was set at $1.7 million. If guilty, Curry could face life in prison.
